Recently, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University was selected into the third batch of national human rights education and training base, which fully affirmed the achievements of Jilin University in human rights research, education and training.
In 1987, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University was established in the form of the Institute of Rights Study in Jilin University School of Law. The Human Rights Research Center follows the principle of combining theory with practice and multi-disciplinary, cross-regional cooperation. On May 9, 2019, Xiangba Pingcuo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress and president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, visited the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University and fully affirmed its development, achievements and future plan.
In terms of staffing, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University currently has more than 20 high-level researchers, and 11 high-level human rights research teams, which covers many research areas.
In terms of scientific research results, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University undertook a number of national and provincial research projects, published more than 300 papers in high-level academic journals and more than 80 monographs and translations works.
In terms of advice on politics, more than 10 political suggestions proposed by the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University have been successively adopted by national party and government departments, more than 20 achievements have been adopted by local party and government departments.
In terms of academic exchanges, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University hosted and participated in more than 20 major international conferences and more than 30 domestic academic conferences. It has also established cooperative relations with more than 20 foreign universities including Oxford University.
In terms of personnel training, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University has achieved fruitful results. The center has guided students to achieve excellent results in academic competitions.
During the evaluation of the third batch of national human rights education and training bases, Jilin University attached great importance to the appraisal and gave full support to the Research Center. A delegation led by senior professors of Jilin University attended the appraisal competition.
In the future, the Human Rights Research Center of Jilin University plans to further integrate the internal and external resources of Jilin University, combine theory with practice and make more achievements in education and research to better serve the development and progress of China’s human rights protection and international human rights protection.
